Weighted Grade Calculator
Everyday & OtherThis weighted grade calculator determines your overall course average by multiplying each assignment score by its percentage weight and dividing by total weight. It converts composite numerical percentages into standard academic letter marks so you can identify exactly where your standing rests before final exams.
Weighted mean across 3 components (weights sum to 100)
About this calculator
College courses and secondary school syllabi frequently assign unequal importance to distinct coursework categories. A semester might balance routine homework assignments at twenty percent, midterm examinations at thirty percent, and a comprehensive final examination at fifty percent. When tracking academic progress, computing a simple arithmetic average distorts your actual performance because high scores on minor tasks cannot offset low scores on major tests. You input each category title alongside its earned percentage score and assigned syllabus weight.
The resulting evaluation reveals both your composite weighted percentage and the corresponding letter grade bracket from A down to F. It also displays the total accumulated weight percentage, confirming whether your entries represent the full term or only graded work completed so far. Keep in mind that individual instructors often apply custom grading scales, rounding rules, or drop-lowest-score policies that require manual adjustment before entering final numbers.
How It Works & Formula
Each task score is multiplied by its relative weight percentage to produce a weighted component value. The sum of these weighted values is then divided by the sum of all entered weights to establish the true course average. If entered weights total less than one hundred percent, the calculation normalizes the result proportionally across the entered items.
