The calculation converts both the start and end times into total minutes elapsed from midnight. It subtracts the start minute total from the end minute total, automatically adding 1,440 minutes if the interval wraps past midnight, and finally deducts the specified break minutes. The net minutes are then divided by 60 to yield integer hours and remaining minutes.
