About this calculator
Installing an interlocking brick patio, driveway, or garden pathway requires calculating not only the surface pavers but also the foundational excavation layers: compacted crushed stone gravel sub-base and coarse bedding sand.
This calculator computes surface area, paver unit count with cutting waste allowances, sub-base gravel volume in cubic yards and tons, and bedding sand bags required.
How It Works & Formula
Pavers Needed = (Patio Area / Single Paver Area) × (1 + Waste %). Gravel Volume (cu yd) = (Area sq ft × Depth in ft) / 27. Gravel Weight (tons) = Volume cu yd × 1.4 tons/cu yd.
