Rebar Weight & Length
Construction & DIYCalculate reinforcing steel rebar length, total weight in pounds and metric tons, grid bar counts, and overlap splice lengths for concrete slabs, footings, and foundations.
Total length 600 ft (0.2 US tons)
About this calculator
Reinforced concrete relies on steel rebar grids to provide tensile strength in slabs, footings, and foundation walls. Estimating rebar requires accounting for grid spacing in both directions, perimeter edge clearances, and mandatory bar overlap splices.
This tool calculates total linear rebar feet, bar quantities by standard 20-foot stick lengths, and total steel weight using CRSI standard bar size densities (sizes #3 through #8).
How It Works & Formula
Grid Bars = (Length / Spacing) + (Width / Spacing). Splice overlap adds 30 to 40 bar diameters per splice joint. Weight multiplies total linear footage by standard unit weight (e.g., #4 rebar = 0.668 lbs/ft).
